Dianne and Jonathan at ECCAC

For most of us, Labor Day brings with it an awareness that summer is coming to an end.  How many kids, now back in school, are writing about 'What I did this summer'?

We've got our own FundRaiser vacation story. Jonathan Smith, lead support technician at FundRaiser, got in a visit to a FundRaiser customer, Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center (ECCAC) as well as some beach time when he and his family went to Florida this summer.

The visit came about in a simple way one day when Jonathan was on the phone helping Dianne Lewellyn of ECCAC with a tech support question. "I knew the Center was in Florida, and that was where my family and I were going to be vacationing. It turned out they were in a town near the one we where we planned to stay. I mentioned that and she invited me to stop by," says Jonathan.

He took her up on the invitation. "I enjoy meeting customers, especially the ones that I’ve worked with," says Jonathan.

When he dropped in, he got a tour of the Center. "Dianne introduced me to everybody and I said 'hi'. She showed me the different parts of the Center: the offices and rooms where the therapy takes place, and the waiting rooms for the kids. It was a nice place with all kinds of nice people. Of course I knew that before I went in."

When asked if anything was different than he had imagined, he said, "I didn't understand the scale of what they did there. There's a lot going on."

Did he do any technical support? "I offered my services as a tech person and they didn’t need me that morning. Dianne said she had already talked to our tech support staff by phone."

Dianne Lewellyn, the main user of FundRaiser at ECCAC, says, "It was great to finally put a face to the voice that is always enthusiastic about helping us no matter how large or small problem that I have. I am very glad that he took the time from his vacation to visit us and tour the facility.  He offered if we needed anything while he was here but I told him no because he was on vacation.  Jonathan is a humble, exceptionally bright individual, and it was my pleasure to meet him."

For the rest of the vacation, Jonathan says, "We just took it easy. I hardly left the resort. I stayed on the beach and in the pool. We bought lots of crab meat and cooked it in the condo. I didn’t have shoes on for days."
