The Donor Period Comparison Report (available on FundRaiser Select and Professional) provides a powerful way to receive an overview of your donors’ giving over several set time periods. From monthly to quarterly, semi-annually, or yearly, this report allows you to see a list of all your donors (or just a selection) and the totals of their giving for each period. In one glance you can chart trends, view donors who haven’t given and even see percentage and dollar amounts of the increase or decrease in giving.
Like most of our reports, the ability to show all donors or limit it to a certain grouping or even donors who meet specific criteria is available. This allows you to provide an at-a-glance look at the giving histories of a subset of your donors.
This report does more than simply list giving amounts, though that is extremely useful. The report also allows you to provide two specific measurements
- Show difference in giving amounts for each period
- Show the percent change in giving for each period
Difference in Giving Amounts
Let us do the math for you! We’ll automatically show you the difference in giving between two periods (so for example from month to month or year to year) for each donor on the list. In addition, you are able to sort based on this, from the largest difference (most positive) to the smallest for any two periods (so for example the most recent calendar year or most recent month compared to the previous one).
Percent Change
In addition to doing the simple math, we’ll also show the percentage of increase or decrease. See which donors gave over 100% more than the previous term! This is also a column that you can sort on as well from largest to smallest. It may be easier to see which donors increased their giving by 10%, 25%, or even doubled it, and if your organization has an internal goal (such as getting donors to increase by 10%), this report will list which donors have achieved that.
This report has a variety of uses, from just general reporting to showing your board how your major donors are doing in supporting the organization. Use the various reporting periods to keep track, not just on a year-by-year level, but even every six months or quarterly. If your organization currently is running a large donation campaign, such as a building fund drive, segment the report just to those donors on a monthly level to track your goals.
