As part of donor management, being able to mark your donors as inactive or deceased, or even making note of mailing preferences (email vs. paper mail, for example), plays an important role. Not only can good preference management save your organization money by moving more of your donors to email, but it can also ensure that you’re contacting the donors when and how they wish to be reached. Within FundRaiser Software, our preferences tab places all of this information in one handy location, as you can see in the following screenshot:
The Preferences Tabbed Page is broken down into four sections. The first involves mailings and gifts, with an option for excluding from general mailings (newsletters and appeal letters), sending end of year letters if that’s not done automatically by your organization, as well as not sending thank you letters (for frequent donors), and the ability to completely block the addition of gifts to a record (for deceased donors).
The second section contains the User-Defined Exclusions and Inclusions. These are decided upon by your organization and are groups that you may wish to include, or exclude, from mailings or actions. FundRaiser Spark provides one each, while FundRaiser Select provides for three different options, and FundRaiser Professional allots five spaces to each one.
The third section repeats the check boxes for anonymous, inactive, or deceased. These are also found under the Name Details tabs, but can also be managed here.
Finally, the last section covers automated correspondence (thank you letters) or mass mailings (appeal or end of year letters) and allows you to choose the format the donor receives. The options are for strictly email, only paper letters, or both.
Our Preferences Tabbed Page gives you the ability to manage your donors' preferences for a variety of actions you will be taking with their account. In this way, your organization can communicate with your donors and prospects where and when they’d like to receive notifications while being mindful of the cost and impact of your mailings sent through the postal service.
