Onsite Training by FundRaiser Software

Move your new software implementation to the Fast Track

If you are new to FundRaiser Software, and want to make sure that your implementation process goes quickly and smoothly, there is no better way to ensure that than onsite training. You will receive the exclusive benefit of being assigned to one of our Training Experts, who will work with you to determine the best training plan for your needs. They will help you determine the set-up process for your new software, discuss your needs and goals for the software, and develop a custom training plan just for you. After the training session, you will have the tools and confidence you need to hit the ground running with your new software!

Quickly get new staff members or volunteers up to speed with FundRaiser

If you, like many nonprofit organizations, have experienced staff turnover, and are in the unfortunate position of not having anyone on staff who knows FundRaiser inside and out, then you need onsite training, and fast! One of our Training Experts will come to your workplace and train your entire staff quickly and efficiently. They can also work with you to develop documentation for data entry defaults and best practice so that you do not find yourself in this position again. After your training session, your staff will have all the tools they need to fully engage with Select or Professional.

Propel yourself and your staff to become Expert FundRaiser Users with advanced training

If you and your development staff have reached hte point where you know your way around FundRaiser, and are ready to become "power users", a couple of days of advanced training will do the trick. Our Training Expert will guide you through the intricacies of Relationships and Households, explain how to use SQL scripts to extract very specific bits of information, walk you throug the process of setting up a new Campaign and tracking your goals and progress, teach you the keyboard shortcuts, explore the Gift and Donor Attributes and explain how they can help define your data even further... Or, choose your own topics and priorities and we will customize the session to your exact specifications. If you're ready to become an FundRaiser Power User, this is the training session for you.

Develop procedures and policies for consistent data entry

If you have several people entering data in your office, or if you have inherited your database from someone else, then you know how difficult it is to maintain data integrity with several "fingers in the pot". It can also be difficult to maintain a consistent database if you don't start off with procedures for data-entry defaults right from the beginning. Either way, one of our Training Experts will talk with you about how you wish to be able to use and track your data (reports, groupings, mailings, etc), and will help develop customized materials for your organization with a complete understanding of your unique needs.

If any of the above situations apply to you, consider onsite training for your development staff. We guarantee you will be satisfied with your customized onsite training experience. More and more organizations are turning to onsite training to get started quickly. Prior to arrival, we will make arrangements for a conference call between you and your trainer to discuss your needs for the training session.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Q. What is Report Layout +

    A. Available in version 5.1, Report Layout is a new window used by the Master, Donor, and Donation reports to give you a great deal of new control over the layout of these reports. A full explaination of the feature is included as a PDF file: Report Layout Feature.
  • Q. What is new in FundRaiser 5 +

    A. We have significantly updated the FundRaiser Program for the release of version 5.0. To give you a glimpse of a few of the new features, read the What's New in FundRaiser 5 document.
  • Q. Do I need Seperate Computer for Client/Server? +

    A. You do not have to have a dedicated server machine to run client server.

Advantage Database Server (ADS) is the name of the software that fills the role of the "server" in the client/server model - FundRaiser itself is the client. You don't have to install ADS on a separate computer. If you have no need for a dedicated server machine in your organization, you install ADS on the same computer that you have FundRaiser installed on.

The decision to move exclusively to client/server was not an arbitrary one and the move is necessary for the continued development and improvement of the software. A lot of thought and discussion went into this decision, and since our relationship with your organization has only begun recently, I'd like to reassure you that this sort of event does not happen often, nor do we take it lightly. In the over twenty year history of the company we've only stopped supporting a product once before - FundRasier for MS-DOS.

I'd also like to reiterate that this is not a decision you have to make right now. The special pricing on the client/server upgrade ends on June 30, but support for your current version won't end until approximately mid-year 2014 - that's based on our planned release date for FundRaiser 5.0. So you have a while before you have to make the decision.

Even after the release of FundRaiser 5.0, any previous version of FundRaiser will continue to run for your organization. You are always welcome to stay with your current version and not worry about any future costs.

  • Q: How does FundRaiser handle PCI Compliance? +

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a set of requirements designed to ensure that ALL companies that process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. Essentially any merchant that has a Merchant ID (MID).

The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) was launched on September 7, 2006 to manage the ongoing evolution of the Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards with focus on improving payment account security throughout the transaction process. The PCI DSS is administered and managed by the PCI SSC (www.pcisecuritystandards.org), an independent body that was created by the major payment card brands (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and JCB). FundRaiser is PCI Level 3 compliant.

Donor Portal:Since PCI Compliance does not allow for saving of Security Numbers (ccv) in the database - the program will be able to detect you are using the new token-based system and will change its actions to accommodate both the new and the old system.  You may choose to send transactions without a security number but may be charged a higher transaction fee from your payment processor.

FRPayForm: a new form for our users to securely enter a transaction, have it processed, and have a token for that credit card/ACH recorded in the data tables.

Blip: Blip is a URL that processes transactions for recurring and single payments. Blip is being updated to detect which you are using; the token-based system or transactions without a security number (ccv) and accomnodate both.

These changes have been implemented in the new version of your FundRaiser Program (version 5.x).  You should check often on the Customer Portal for the latest version.

  • Q. How to enable Hidden Shares (Admin Share) in Windows Vista and Windows 7? +

    A. By default, Windows Vista and newer versions of Windows prevent local accounts from accessing administrative shares through the network.

To enable administrative shares you have to make a registry change. Click on Start Menu and in the search box type ‘regedit’ and press ENTER. Add this registry item:

    Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
    Name: LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy
    Data Type: REG_DWORD
    Value: 1

After rebooting, the hidden share is accessible from other computers.
  • Q. Can I connect to FundRaiser Remotely? +

    A. Yes, There are two major ways to connect to FundRaiser Remotely, FundRaiser Online and FundRaiser Client/Server

FundRaiser Online keeps all the responsibility of technical aspects of the setup of the program with FundRaiser.

FundRaiser Client/Server does allow for remote access to the data, however it requires one of the following options to be met.

Virtual Private Network (VPN) - This would allow access from outside your network from a remote computer that would virtualize the presence as if the remote computer was connected to the local network. Then you would run Workstation Setup from the Remote computer accessing the Server computer.

Remote Desktop - This allows a remote computer to access a computer that is connect to the local network and have access to run programs as if the remote user was at the desk of the local computer. Examples - Windows Remote Desktop, Citrix, Goto MyPC, Go-Global.

Please let us know if you need assistance with connecting to FundRaiser after one of the above options are met.

  • Q. Can I use international characters with FundRaiser? +

    A. Yes, FundRaiser recognizes any ASCII based character that the computer is referencing from the character map.

English language based computer systems, including much of the Internet, use a particular character set known as US-ASCII or simply ASCII, which may or may not the contain characters you need. Recently, this 'default" character set has been supplanted by the ISO 1 character set that contains more foreign phrase glyphs (individual characters). For use on a computer, character sets are encoded and set in a table where a positive number is assigned to each character, or glyph.

Typically, a character set includes far more characters than you will use in the course of normal writing. You can access these "hidden" characters by using a modifier key, most commonly the "ALT" key. Within a given character set standard, there can be many fonts and font families, and while all fonts are supposed to have all the characters from a given set, many do not, or are inaccurate, thus your results may vary depending on the font you are using. Common Character Map

Some characters will show an ALT+Keystroke combination. This will be displayed in the lower right corner of the character map utility. In order to use this shortcut, hold down the "ALT" key while you type in the entire code. When you release the ALT key the glyph will appear.

This only works with the number pad on Desktops. On some computers this will only work if your "Num Lock" is on. These codes may not work with laptops, notebooks, or hand held computer devices etc., depending on your machine: most laptops have a blue extra key 'Fn', and little blue numbers on the keys 789uiojklm,. - if you have these, you can use ALT + Fn, and then the little blue numbers on these keys to get the same effect.

The ASCII range of 97-122 has the lower-case letters of the alphabet and 65-90 range has the capitalized letters of the alphabet The numbers beyond 170 can also have meaning, such as special characters and the Greek alphabet.

Some combinations may require a 0 before the 3 digit combination.

To type with special symbols you may also use transliteration tools.

Another method is to hold "ALT" Key and simply type on the number pad then release "ALT".
