Old Time Music Festival Attracts Enthusiastic Support

West Plains Square with people attending the Old Time Music Festival

Crowds gather for the Old Time Music Festival in the West Plains Court House Square. The FundRaiser office is also located in a loft on the West Plains Square.

West Plains, Missouri is buzzing this week, in preparation for the  Old Time Music Ozark Heritage Festival. It's pretty near impossible to live here and not get excited about it. West Plains is also the home of FundRaiser Software.

The festival is organized by the West Plains Council on the Arts (WPCA), a FundRaiser Select user. "FundRaiser Select is the primary source of donor management for us," says Kathleen Morrissey, WPCA volunteer administrator, "and has been for many years."  West Plains Council on the Arts has been providing support and assistance to arts endeavors in the West Plains area since 1975.

This year is the 20th anniversary of the festival. It attracts top musicians, a big crowd of music lovers from all over, and strong community support, including Josh Shirley, CFO of FundRaiser.

Josh is the volunteer Logistics Chair of the Festival. What does a logistics chair do? "Everything that no one else wants toOld Time Ozark Heritage Festival logo do," says Josh,  "for instance pick up trash during festival, coordinate shuttle buses, set up and tear down." This is Josh's second year volunteering at the festival.

He loves the job because it lets him do what he enjoys best, "the behind the scenes stuff, being helpful. I like being Johnny-on-the-Spot, keeping things oiled and running smoothly, anticipating people's needs. I like to make sure that any problems that crop up don't become overwhelming." This is what he also enjoys most about working at FundRaiser.

He puts his energy into the Old Time Music Festival because of his interests in the Arts. "I also like the value the event has for the community.  It is a signature event for West Plains. It brings visibility to the area and a consciousness of the unique culture of the Ozarks."

He's busy this week, but when you catch him for a moment, he's got a big smile on his face. "It's wonderful to be part of the 20th year anniversary of the event," he says.
