Reconnect With Donors During This Difficult Time


With the uncertainties in the world right now, you may be wondering how best to, or even if you should, reconnect with your donors. It’s understandable. Everyone has so much on their minds right now. And yet, there’s a good chance that people need the work that you’re doing. It’s important that you continue to let them know that you’re there, honoring your mission, even with everything that’s happening.

This is also a good time of year to start looking at LYBUNT and SYBUNT numbers. These are people who gave last year, but not this year, or some year, but not this year. If you’re unsure of where to start, this might be a good way to begin engaging your donors. To begin with, use FundRaiser’s grouping feature to create a grouping of LYBUNT. You’ll find both LYBUNT and SYBUNT on the “common patterns” tab with a few different options for how you want to look at the dates. Once you’ve created a grouping you’ll know just how many people fall into these categories for your organization.

The next step is to draft a letter in FundRaiser. When you use the word processor, you’ll have the option to create an email template. This means you can send emails to your donors (who have email addresses) directly from the program. Save time and money by emailing your donors directly. Of course, with the same template, you still have the option to print and mail letters as well.

In this way you can target donors directly, sending a specific letter to either your LYBUNT or SYBUNT donors. When you do, you’ll be helping them reconnect with your organization’s work and perhaps supporting it once more. Don’t forget to code your gifts so you can use reports to see just how effective your campaigns were.
